Blue roses, tinted by hand in the Singapore Florist studio
There is no naturally blue rose. Any florist claiming otherwise is bending the truth. What we do at Singapore Florist is tint white roses by hand using florist-grade dye absorbed through the stem over 24 to 48 hours. The result is a rich, deep blue that holds its colour until the petals drop. We have been hand-tinting roses in our Eunos Techpark studio since the early 2000s, and blue roses remain one of the three most-requested custom bouquets we build across the year.
Blue roses carry a specific meaning that red and white roses do not. In flower language they signal the unattainable, the rare, the one who got away, or the mystery of first love. For most of our Singapore customers they land as a surprise gift on anniversaries, proposals where the recipient has seen every other colour before, and the occasional heartfelt apology. We keep two blue tones in regular rotation. The softer ice-blue reads elegant and slightly cool, right for modern-minimalist recipients. The deep royal-blue (our most-ordered tone) reads bold and dramatic, right for grand gestures. We can also build sapphire-blue for a midway option, and for customers who want something more fantastical, multi-tone blue-purple hybrids are available on request.
Pricing for this collection runs from SGD 98 for the 6-stem posies to SGD 488 for the 50-stem premium boxes, with most orders landing in the SGD 168 to SGD 288 range (12 to 24 stems). Every order ships free islandwide, includes a handwritten card, and arrives same-day for orders placed before 11am. The earlier cut-off reflects the 24 to 48 hour tinting lead time. How we tint every blue rose in this collection
The tinting process starts with fresh white Ecuadorian roses, the same premium stems we use in our white rose line. Each stem is cut at a 45-degree angle to maximise capillary absorption, then placed into a vase of florist-grade blue dye concentrate mixed with cool water. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, the stem draws the dye up through the vascular system and the petals slowly turn blue from the inside out. Once the colour saturates, the rose is rinsed, re-cut, and moved into a final nutrient water vase until it is arranged. Each stem in this collection has been individually tinted by hand in our studio, usually 48 hours before it reaches you. The dye sets permanently into the petal once absorbed, so it will not rub off on skin or clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are your blue roses real or dyed?
Real roses, hand-tinted by our florists. The stem absorbs the florist-grade dye through the vascular system over 24 to 48 hours, so the petals turn blue from the inside out. They are not spray-painted or fake. Each bouquet you see in this collection started as white roses and became blue in our studio.
How long does the blue colour last?
The blue tint stays vibrant for the entire life of the flower, typically 5 to 7 days. Petals will fade slightly as they age, but they will not turn back to white. Once the petals naturally drop, the colour stops too. Follow our standard rose care routine (re-cut stems, change water every 2 days, away from direct sunlight) for maximum vase life.
Will the dye stain clothing or skin if touched?
No. Once the dye has set into the petal (within the first few hours of tinting), it will not rub off. The petals are safe to touch and will not stain hands, clothing, or the vase. If you spill fresh cut water on fabric, a quick rinse handles any light residue.
Do blue roses have a meaning or symbolism?
In flower language, blue roses traditionally symbolise the unattainable, the mysterious, and rare love. Culturally in Singapore and across East Asia, they are often gifted as a surprise on anniversaries or during proposals because they are unexpected. We have written more on this in our guide to rose colours and their meanings.
Can I order blue roses in a specific stem count (like 33, 99)?
Yes. Our listed bouquets are the most-ordered sizes, but we can build custom stem counts (11, 33, 99) with 2 to 3 working days notice. WhatsApp the Singapore Florist team with the count and the delivery date and we will confirm price and availability quickly.
