Special flowers, the rare and unusual stems we source on request
Most florists stock the same 10 to 15 standard flowers (roses, lilies, carnations, gerberas, sunflowers, tulips, etc.) and rotate their colour offerings within that range. The Singapore Florist Special Flowers collection is for everything else: peonies, ranunculus, anemones, hellebores, lisianthus, protea, garden roses, parrot tulips, and other unusual stems we source on request from European, American, and South American growers. We have been sourcing rare flowers for Singapore weddings and bespoke arrangements since the early 2000s, and this collection is our curated catalogue of what we can reliably bring in with 5 to 10 days lead time.
The flowers in this collection share two characteristics: they are not commonly stocked in the Singapore market, and they require advance ordering. Peonies (the most-requested rare flower) are seasonal and only available from European farms during the April to June window each year, with limited supply. Ranunculus (the layered cabbage-like rose alternative) is available year-round but only from Italian and Dutch growers. Protea (the dramatic South African flower with leathery petals) is available from South African farms with specific colour and size variants. Garden roses (David Austin and other heritage varieties) are imported from Europe and the UK at higher cost per stem than commercial roses.
Pricing varies dramatically by flower type. Peonies start at SGD 18 per stem during peak season and rise to SGD 35 per stem during off-season import. Ranunculus runs SGD 8 to SGD 15 per stem. Protea runs SGD 12 to SGD 25 per stem. Garden roses run SGD 15 to SGD 28 per stem. Most special flower bouquet orders land in the SGD 188 to SGD 488 range. How we source rare flowers from European and South American growers
The special flowers supply chain is fundamentally different from our standard rose and orchid sourcing. For rare flowers we work with three boutique European import partners who consolidate weekly shipments from farms in the Netherlands, Italy, France, and the UK. Each Tuesday and Friday they email us their available stock list, and we place orders for anything customers have requested in the previous week. The flowers ship by air-freight from Europe and arrive in Singapore within 48 to 72 hours, then go directly into our studio cold storage for conditioning. The total lead time from customer order to delivery is typically 5 to 10 days, depending on whether the flower happens to be on the next available European shipment. For peony season (April to June) the lead time can drop to 3 to 5 days because supply is more reliable. Every special flower order is hand-selected by our buyer for size, colour, and condition, and rejected stems are not charged to the customer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What rare flowers can you source for special orders in Singapore?
Peonies, ranunculus, anemones, hellebores, lisianthus, protea, garden roses (David Austin and heritage varieties), parrot tulips, snowberries, foxglove, and various other European and South American imports. Availability varies by season and supplier shipment schedule. WhatsApp us with the specific flower and delivery date for current availability.
When are peonies available in Singapore?
Peony season runs April to June each year, when European farms (mainly Dutch and Italian) are at peak production. During this window we can supply peonies with 3 to 5 days lead time at SGD 18 to SGD 25 per stem. Outside the season (July to March) peonies are imported at higher cost (SGD 30 to SGD 35 per stem) and lead time is 7 to 10 days.
Are special flowers more expensive than roses or orchids?
Yes, typically 2x to 4x the cost per stem because of the specialty sourcing, air-freight from Europe, and lower volume. Peonies are the most expensive (SGD 18 to SGD 35 per stem). Ranunculus is moderate (SGD 8 to SGD 15). Garden roses are moderate (SGD 15 to SGD 28). The pricing reflects the import logistics, not a markup on standard flowers.
How long do special flowers last after delivery?
Varies by flower. Peonies: 5 to 7 days at peak, 3 to 5 days off-season. Ranunculus: 5 to 7 days. Protea: 10 to 14 days (long vase life). Garden roses: 5 to 7 days. We condition every special flower stem for at least 24 hours in nutrient water before arranging to maximise vase life.
Can I order a peony bouquet for a wedding in Singapore?
Yes, peonies are one of the most-requested wedding bouquet flowers, especially during the April to June peak season. For wedding bouquets specifically, see our bridal bouquets collection or the wedding decor service for full custom quotes including peony availability for your specific wedding date.
