Preserved roses that last 1 to 3 years without water

Preserved roses are real roses that have been treated with a glycerin-based preservation process to lock in their colour, shape, and softness for 1 to 3 years without water, sunlight, or any care routine. They are not artificial (those are silk or polyester replicas), and they are not dried (those are crispy, brittle, and brown). The Singapore Florist studio has stocked preserved roses since 2018 when the Ecuadorian preservation process matured enough to produce reliably beautiful results. They have grown into one of our most-ordered gift categories for keepsakes, anniversary gifts, dome arrangements, and customers who want the visual of fresh roses without the maintenance.

The preservation process works by replacing the rose's natural sap with a food-grade glycerin and dye solution, which keeps the petals supple and colour-fast for years. The result is a rose that looks and feels exactly like a fresh stem, except it does not wilt, drop petals, or need water. Preserved roses are ideal for gift recipients who travel a lot (no maintenance needed), live in homes with very high or very low humidity (the preservation process is climate-stable), or want a keepsake gift like a dome arrangement that sits on a desk or mantel for years. The trade-off is price: preserved roses are roughly 3x to 5x the cost of equivalent fresh roses, because the preservation process is labour-intensive.

Pricing starts at SGD 188 for a single preserved rose in a glass dome and reaches SGD 1,288 for the premium 24-stem preserved rose box arrangements. Most orders land in the SGD 288 to SGD 488 range (single dome with 1 large rose, or compact box with 6 to 9 preserved stems). Every order ships free islandwide, includes a handwritten card, and is presented in a keepsake glass dome, acrylic box, or wooden gift box. How preserved roses are made and why they last so long

The preservation process starts with fresh-cut roses harvested at the perfect bloom stage (slightly before full open). The stems are placed in a glycerin-and-dye solution which the rose absorbs through capillary action over 5 to 10 days, replacing the natural water content of the petals with the glycerin mixture. The glycerin is what keeps the petals soft and supple (unlike traditional dried flowers, which lose all water and become brittle). The dye component restores the colour after the natural pigment is leached out by the glycerin. The result is a rose that retains the appearance and texture of a fresh stem but does not need any water, sunlight, or care to maintain. Properly stored away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity, a preserved rose maintains its appearance for 1 to 3 years. The roses in this collection are imported from Ecuador (the global leader in commercial rose preservation) and assembled into dome and box arrangements at our Eunos Techpark studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are preserved roses real roses or fake?

Real. Preserved roses are fresh-cut roses that have been treated with a glycerin-based preservation solution to lock in their appearance for 1 to 3 years. They are not silk or polyester replicas (those are artificial flowers, and we have a separate artificial flower bouquets collection for those). They are also not dried flowers, which become brittle and brown.

How long do preserved roses actually last?

1 to 3 years with proper storage. Keep them out of direct sunlight (which fades the dye over time) and away from extreme humidity (which can affect the glycerin content). Most customers report their preserved rose dome looks good for 18 months to 2 years before any visible degradation.

Why are preserved roses so much more expensive than fresh roses?

The preservation process is labour-intensive and takes 5 to 10 days per batch. Each rose is hand-selected at the perfect bloom stage, treated in a glycerin-and-dye solution, dried under controlled conditions, and quality-inspected before assembly. The preserved-rose supply chain is also smaller than fresh-rose supply, which keeps wholesale prices high. Expect 3x to 5x the cost of equivalent fresh roses.

Do I need to water or care for a preserved rose dome?

No. The whole point is that they need zero maintenance. Just keep them out of direct sunlight and extreme humidity. Wipe the dome glass occasionally with a soft cloth to remove dust. That is the entire care routine.

Can I order custom-coloured preserved roses?

Yes. Standard colours are red, white, pink, champagne, and pastel blue. For more unusual colours (deep purple, gold, navy, multi-tone) we can source with 2 to 3 weeks lead time because the preservation suppliers run colour batches on a schedule. WhatsApp us with the colour and quantity and we will confirm availability.
